I always thought one of the drawbacks of youtube is that it doesn’t allow you to download videos. But I recently found Vixy.net which allows you to do just that, and more besides.

In theory, you could download all the funniest clips, and upload them using your own user account. Thus driving a ton of traffic to your own videos. I don’t recommend that, but I’m sure there are some people out there already doing just that.

Vixy.net is a Japanese website I believe, and here’s what their site does, according to their main page:

What I like about this one is that it also allows you to rip mp3 files from a video as well. Again, just copy and paste the URL into the Vixy converter, and you’re good to go. You can rename the file as you wish after downloading.

Of course another option if you’re looking for mp3s is the ever popular Chinese search engine, Baidu.com. You can go to http://mp3.baidu.com/ and just type in the name of whatever artist you’d like to download.

Well, Baidu is one of Chinese biggest companies, most likely with the highest ethical standards — so you’re probably fine.
