At 2:28 pm a nation-wide 3 mins of silence was observed, for those who died in the recent Sichuan Earthquake.
If the rest of the country was anything like Dalian, this is what it sounded like:
Noisy. But very touching when you hear a country express its emotion in unison.

They sounded the air-raid sirens a couple of times in Yantai for the life of me I can’t remember why. Still a haunting sound. I was in Kunming the other day and people just came out of their shops, stopped their cars and stood still taking it all in. Still many people just kept on oblivious.
I remember a few years back they had a similar moment to mark the end of the “War against Japanese Aggression.”
This one was definitely a bit louder, as it happened during the day. Eerie.
But glad most people are stopping to reflect.
