<description>I have always loved the secondhand markets of the SF Bay Area. Of course, San Francisco is full of Chinese immigrants and their descendants over many generations. Until very, very, very recently I NEVER saw any Chinese or Chinese-Americans in the thriftstores - whites, Mexicans and black Americans only (no Africans or Caribbeans...)

Now, suddenly, especially on the half-price sale days, there are a LOT of Chinese, buying and talking in Cantonese. So is this good? I think it is always good that people recycle and thereby donate the money to charity, but for me as a consumer, there's a lot new competition for the clothes!

Ach!
