Update from Japan
Ok. So I’ve been here a little over two weeks now, and all is well.
Some people have asked if I’ll be continuing my PandaPassport China Blog, as I haven’t updated it since I left. I should clarify, that I haven’t blogged mostly because I don’t have an internet connection at home yet. When I finally get that straightened up, I’ll certainly be doing something with PandaPassport.
Whether it remains in it’s current form, or morphs into something like 2jpn.com — I haven’t really decided yet.
Any suggestions?
I’m still quite interested in all things China, and hope to keep a close eye on things while I’m in Japan. But for more frequent updates, be sure to check out my new CNet Japan blog, Tokyo Shift. Or you can always follow me on twitter.

Ong Bak is back. And now he’s a chick! …with autism …who eats smarties
Ok, so technically this is not part of the Ong Bak series. But it looks like it was produced by the same Thai film company as Ong Bak. (p.s. If you haven’t seen Ong Bak, please do. Easily one of my top 5 favorite movies ever!)
But this movie, Chocolate, looks to be similarly arse-kickin’ awesome!

Barack Obama Acceptance Speech
Obama’s speech is on youku.com in it’s entirely. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s definitely worth a watch. First 7 minutes or so aren’t awesome, but the second half is pretty amazing, as many of his other speeches have been.
h/t to America for not fucking it up this time.

Forget Bush. McCain reminds me of Chaney [photo]
I’ve been trying to put my finger on it for months. John McCain reminds me of someone.
And then today it hit me. Lon Chaney, from Phantom of the Opera.
It’s uncanny!
UPDATE: In related news… At the end of the debate, McCain apparently turned into a zombie:

Video: Third and Final Presidential Debate
I thought I’d post this here just in case some of you here in China haven’t seen it yet — or in case you weren’t sure where you could watch it. This one had more fireworks, and McCain did do a decent job on offense.
But as with the other debates, Obama was cool as a cucumber.

At the Olympics, Soccer in Shenyang.
So I went up to Shenyang yesterday to check out Japan vs Holland. A local Japanese travel agency here in Dalian, sent a group of about 200 Japanese Nationals (plus one not-so skinny white boy) up to Shenyang on three busus. Given the anti-Japanese sentiment up here in the north-east, we had a police escort the whole way up there.
I was phoning in audio updates to twitter via drop.io, and if you’d like to check them out, they’re reposted below. I also shot a bit of video, which you can find at the bottom.
