Batman Begins Movie Pirated in China? We’ll never tell…

Note: This post is an experiment of sorts. I got an unusual amount of traffic from my Spiderman post. I’m curious to see if Batman is equally powerful… All you SEO guys, wait and see.

Boondock Saints: I forgot how much I liked this movie

This is one movie that for some reason had slipped away onto the dusty back shelves of my memory — somewhere near Fraggle Rock and Spaghettios.

If you like flicks like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, you’ll probably like this.

Willem Dafoe plays a cute little gay-arse detective in hot pursuit of two renegade Irish-American vigilante justice-seekers seeking justice.

There’s a tag line if I ever heard one…

I’m not linking to it directly, but you might find Boondock Saints by putting this into google: ??? site:youku.com

Of course, officially I recommend you go buy the DVD.

Online Video: Original Transformers Cartoon

I recently wrote about how some Chinese youtube clones are hosting the Transformers movie online. While I don’t think I’ll be watching that, here’s one that I might check out:

Original Transformers Cartoon Playlist

Man, I used to watch these almost every day after school. Wish I could find the Go-bots cartoon. That’d be sweet.

Here’s a sample for ya, it’s the very first episode. It’s the one where the Autobots and Decepticons first land on earth:

Watch Transformers Online on a Chinese Video Website

Wow. Even before it’s official Chinese release (July 11), it seems someone has uploaded a bootleg copy of Transformers to Chinese video website youku.

So, like the good internet policeman that I am, I hereby report this outrageous criminal act by re-posting it here: letting you know what to search for:

???? ???????DVD? site:youku.com

Of course it’s terrible quality. Seems to be a camcorder job. But I’m sure all that will change after July 11th. This is definitely one that I plan to see in the cinema.

Optimus Prime says: Stealing Movies Hurts Everyone, Even Me!

Did I ever mention that me and my brother once made a fully functioning (i.e. transformable) Optimus Prime Costume? Jeff, you still have any of those photos? That was way cool.

David Bowie singing in Mandarin?! WTF?

Here’s a pretty crazy video that I found a while back (on Chinese youtube clone tudou, of David Bowie singing his 1997 single Seven Years in Tibet.

But here’s the twist:

This version is in mandarin chinese!

According to the newly-unblocked Wikipedia,

the “Mandarin version” also appeared on the bonus disc of the Digibook Expanded Edition of Earthling from 2004. In Hong Kong it was also released on a separate bonus disc that followed the release of Earthling in 1997.

File under W, for Wacky.

For more Bowie, check out this David Bowie Video playlist on tudou.

And by the way, for all you Chinese Bloggers out there, this is the last day for Ryan’s Group Writing Project. So be sure to go over to Lost Laowai if you plan to put in a last minute submission!

Another Chinese Digg Clone?!

First there was digg.cn (read more)
then there was dingr.com

Now there’s verydig.com.

Very creative is what it’s not…

Check the screenshots on this one, in comparison to digg.com.
