Places I’d love to see this happen in China:
FROM their seats on the rumbling London Underground, a group of stony-faced passengers rose at random and burst into the jerky slide kick of a zombie dance before melting away without a word.
The response of British passengers — stiff gazes, nervous silence and tepid applause — was, naturally, videotaped and posted online, and it quickly spun off into zombie dance sequels at the central Copenhagen train station, in Chinatown in London and on the street outside the Sydney Opera House. Any bored laowai out there? Any takers?

This looks way cool. The guy doing the demo flips through a Top 100 / Top 200 / Top 500 mp3 menu. All free, via Baidu’s mp3 search feature.
Beats the crap out of iTunes, hey?

Note: Google’s logo does not show up using internet archive for some reason. But you get the idea…
Nickelback was on top of the charts with This is How you Remind Me. Baidu’s design for that year was equally ridiculous.
Google, keeping it simple. Advanced search, preferences, not much need for anything else.

A bit of a sobering-up year for Baidu. Magic 8-ball says “Yahoo-style content portal is where it’s at!”
Google still chillin’.
Baidu finally jumps on the Google-train. The “Logo-on-top-of-Main-Menu-on-top-of-Search-Bar-on-top-of-Paris-Hilton -on-top-of-Secondary-Links” formula seemed all the rage that year.
Baidu also brought in Advanced search, just to the right of the search bar.

Baidu, after many board meetings, decides that their menu bar’s color scheme is just not Googly enough.
Google, after many board meetings, decides to still chill some more.
Google ditches the Menu Bar in favor of text links.
Baidu searches junk drawer for Menu Bar receipt, in the hopes that maybe they can get a refund or at least a nice gift certificate..
This reminds me of the time when I bought a hypercolor shirt just when they were not so cool anymore. Such a bummer…
Google still chillin’…
Baidu calls a meeting, decides thay they too will also chill.
Baidu finally finds Menu Bar receipt in the cushions of the couch. Brings back menu bar and exchanges it for cool new Googly text links!

While some might think that Spongebob in China might be something like this, I prefer to think of a Chinese Spongebob a little more like this…
File under: Shouldn’t laugh, but will do so anyway.
I especially like the part about Chinese Google!

Here are a couple of the Chinese articles saying that Tudou has been ordered to shutdown due to porn content. Danwei reported that a few articles were being deleted, so I figured I’d capure these two at least for posterity.
I may do a CNet post on this later on, so I’d hate to use them as sources if they won’t exist tomorrow…
From Sohu:
**Note: Not sure if this is the Sohu article David Feng was speaking of or not.**
